Modified Start for 2024/2025 School Year
Hello grade 4-5-6 parents of R.I. Baker!!With our grade configuration changing and other changes in the wings, we are going to try a different modified start to next year's school year. We will start the year with every homeroom operating on day one and day two, we will just have half the students in the classrooms. This will give teachers the opportunity to have more individualized time with the students on their first day. Our hope is this relieves some of the first day jitters with more individualized time with staff and the new school routines and processes. The schedule is based on the first letter of your last name and will proceed as follows.
Modified Start and the First Day.This year we have decided to modify our start to lower anxieties for new students and also give teachers a better chance to make those important first day connections. The grade level doors have recently changed from a recent post. The first days will look as follows:
September 3rd, 2024Grade 4 (last name starting A through L) Line up NE doors. Look for the BLUE SIGN
Grade 5 (last name starting A through L) Line up West doors. Look for the GREEN SIGN
Grade 6 (last name starting A through L) Line up NW doors. Look for the RED SIGN
**Parents may walk their child to their class for first day comfort and/or to help carry supplies. The first day is always a busy one so we are asking parents to limit their stay indoors to 3-5 min as it can get rather congested in the hallways on these days. If your child does not require this support we ask that we do our best to practice their independence and limit indoor traffic.

Grade 5 (last name starting M through Z) Line up West doors. Look for the GREEN SIGN
Grade 6 (last name starting M through Z) Line up NW doors. Look for the RED SIGN
