First Days of School Info

I hope this email finds you enjoying this sunny weather we have been having.  I just wanted to send out a quick message to inform parents about the first week of school and some of the events your child will be taking part in.

Start Up & First Days
As we have been practicing the past few years, we will be staggering our first days.  The grade 5 and 6 students will have their first day on August 30th for the full day.  The grade 7 and 8 students will not attend this day.  On August 31st the grade 7 and 8 students will have their first day.  The grade 5 and 6 students do not attend this day. On Thursday September 1st will be the first day all students will attend.
August 30th, 2022 - Grades 5 & 6 students only
August 31st, 2022 - Grades 7 & 8 students only
September 1st and forward - ALL students attend.

It is an expectation that all students line up at their grade level doors each morning including the first day.  Staff will open the door each morning to greet the students.  The first week we will post the specific grade level on the door window.  Student class lists will also be on these door windows on the first day.

Parent Council
We encourage all parents to attend our Parent Council meetings.  These meetings are held every second month for about an hour.  There is no commitment to hold a title or job, just a commitment to learn about our school and school district and give your feedback and suggestions for continuous improvement.  The meetings are held at the school and start at 6:30pm.
Our first meeting is on September 13th at 6:30 pm in the RIBMS staff room.  There will be snacks and refreshments at all meetings.

School Assemblies & Volunteering
We will again be holding monthly assemblies.  Parents are always welcome to attend these events, we just ask you to sign in at the office once you arrive, and sign out when you leave.  If there is ever an event you would like to attend please feel free to contact us!  If you are someone who has some extra time to help out at the school, we always require help in our canteen at lunch.  You can also reach out to your child's homeroom teacher and let them know you have some time to offer.  They will contact you when an opportunity arises.  We have one fundraiser all year long - The RIBMS Walkathon.  Students take pledges to embark on our Terry Fox Walk.  We always appreciate volunteers on this day.
