Hi everyone! I am Carrie Netzel and I am SO excited to be teaching at R.I. Baker Middle School for a fourth year and working with these vibrant young students! I am teaching all of the grade 8 Language Arts this year, along with a Film Study Exploratory. I have been a teacher with Palliser Regional Schools since September 2000. In this time, I have taught at Picture Butte High School, primarily grades 7-12 English Language Art, some junior and senior high Drama, and junior high Art. From 2009- 2014, I taught at KAHS, primarily English 10-1, English 20-1, English 30-1 and English 20-2, with a sprinkle of Social 10-2/10-1 and Tourism. I graduated with a BA in English from the UofL and a BEd After Degree from the UofA. I have had the pleasure of teaching students in various rural schools in Alberta, including: Spirit River, Claresholm, Picture Butte and now Coaldale. I love what I teach and look forward to sharing it with students!
I am married to my wonderful husband, Geoff Netzel, and we just celebrated our 20th anniversary this summer! We are blessed with two fantastic daughters. Chloe is 9 (almost 10) and starting grade 5. It is pleasing to see her loving school and eager to learn. She is passionate about life and very adventurous! She is always entertaining. Gabi is 14 years old and is heading to grade 9 this year! I cannot believe she is starting her first year of high school. I am not sure how I am old enough to be the parent to a high school student already! Gabi is a kind soul who always takes her studies seriously. Both of our girls dance Mon - Sat and they love every minute of it! This makes our schedules very busy. We like to travel together every opportunity we get - the island of Kauai, HI being our favourite destination to date!
I am honoured to be working with these middle school-aged students this year and I am thrilled to remain in the community of Coaldale! If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please feel free to get in touch with me!
Have a fantastic school year!
